Our Story
Help Us Help The Islands
Deep Blue Recycling was created to turn island and ocean waste into something that keeps trash out of landfills, off the roads, and out of our waters.
The Beginning
From the Landfill to a Dream
Deep Blue Recycling was created 3 years ago in 2023 when I moved to St. Thomas and lived rather close to the landfill. Driving by it daily and smelling it — or the fires that randomly start that send smoke everywhere — I felt that the islands need help to keep plastics, metals, glass, wood, or anything that can be recycled or repurposed out of the landfill.
I bought the machines for plastic from the St. Thomas Children's Museum 4 months after living here. Then life happened and they just sat there while I ran boat charters and traveled. In December of 2025 I decided it was time to stop staring at the machines and put them to work. I had let them sit so long and moved them twice that now I needed to get them working again.
I had a few friends through the process that helped get the first few necklaces made in January 2026. I filed all paperwork and created the business officially in February of 2026.
Now off we go with fulfilling my dream of changing this little section of the world for the better! Help Us Help The Islands!
Our Mission
What We Stand For
Clean the Island & Ocean
Pick up trash on the beach, in the water, and along the road. Every piece removed is one less item heading to the landfill or harming our ecosystem.
Recycle & Repurpose
Plastic, metals, wood, glass, and more — transformed in our St. Thomas facility into jewelry, art, and products with real purpose.
Change the Mentality
Our ultimate goal is making recycling a habit for islanders — and researching structures built from recycled materials that can last 100 years plus.
